Hangar 3, Hangar 4 & Aircraft Maintenance Unit 4

Luke Air Force Base is considered one of the largest training bases for the F-35 program.  As an increasing number of F-35’s are brought onto the Base, storage and maintenance becomes paramount for the aircrafts’ upkeep.  Combined construction cost of the 30,000 square foot Hangar 4 and 45,000 square foot Aircraft Maintenance Unit 4 (AMU 4) is $24 million.  The additional $10 million Hangar 3 comprises 30,000 square feet and includes 6 bays for aircraft. Casco Bay Engineering provided Structural Engineering design, integrating loads imposed from heavy structural steel pre-engineered buildings onto CMU bearing and shear wall systems.  Anti-Terrorism Force Protection (ATFP) design criteria was utilized in accordance with the Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) for the Department of Defense.
